Media Memos

Andy Fales is back and that is a good thing! Problem is the show- “Sound Off”- lost so much of it’s fastball that people are having to re-program their Sunday night’s.

Look, you want to bash Heather Burnside–not fair! She was in a tough spot and could have never filled the shoes.  Fales’ schtick is nearly impossible to duplicate; that is why he is so good. Not buying for a second his ‘ news ‘ contributions will be a hit. He’s a sportsguy. Suits at 13 could really screw this up!  Find room in sports…but small department (huge egos) like everywhere in sports media….

Fales and Murph are great and I am betting on good things and we all are better for having them on the Tube!

Welcome back Andy!

Monday Musings

Roger Clemens’ “60 Minutes” interview leaves with me with more questions then answers.

Lawsuit was the right move…

No horrible for Zach Johnson $81,000 in the bank off of his -5 287 at the Mercedes…

Gartone (The Great One) 2-1-1 for the week; 70% year to date….

Pats and Jax going to be the best game of the entire post-season…write it down!

Giants are going to be one tough out … Eli’s coming out party? Dallas is shaky, folks!!!

Celtics might just win 65!

Didn’t like Clemens’ answer to lie detector test…did you?

Tiger is a serious threat to win the Grand Slam; that is a prevailing thought in pro golf circles.

Nate Kaeding will be the death of the SD Chargers…again.

On Golf

Sometimes your best round of golf starts before you tee off. Played Mahogany Run in St. Thomas–the only golf course on this island.

1:37p tee time moved up to 1:30p and got to play with two midwesterners’-Doug and Darby Miller. Go figure—another Miller.

KU alums–Darby now at Harvard doing Public Health studies; Doug a CPA in Westwood, KS.

Good players…greater people.

By the way, Devil’s Triangle —awesome.

How do you pay for Soriano and Fukudome?

More seats and more signs. Today the Cubs received permission from the City of Chicago to add 70 bullpen box seats along the third base line and install additional signage inside the park.

Cubs vice president Mike Lufrano says in addition to the seats, the club will be extending digital signage on the sides of the grandstand.

Now if only they could sell those seats in late October and November.

Did you catch the Lakers Sunday night?

A lot of teams wear multiple uniforms these days. A lot of teams wear throw back unis. The Los Angeles Lakers did this Sunday night, but they took it one step further. Not only did the team wear jerseys from the 1987-88 season, they also wore the shorts – very short shorts.

Check out the pregame video and the players comments regarding the “short” shorts.

Mercedes tees of the 08′ PGA Tour at Kapalua. Stuart Appleby 3-time defending champion and we’ll keep you posted on Zach Johnson. Only 31 players and sans Tiger and Lefty this year’s event is a wide-open affair.

Other notables not making it British Open champ Padraig Harrington and foreigner Adam Scott.

Vijay will be displaying a new swing and 13 others players are making their Kapalua debuts.

Par 73 with hilly, sloping greens–we’ll take a season-opening flyer on Candadian Stephen Ames.

Zach can contend and what a great way to start the year with a strong finish.
