College basketball - early read

Sat in front of the big screen last night and took in a little hoops action after Survivor was over. That Randy guy is freakin’ nuts and Sugar is much smarter than I gave her credit for - but I digress.

Here are a few random thoughts from last nights action:

* Is Michigan basketball back? This time without the cheating? John Beilein’s boys pulled off a huge upset over 4th ranked UCLA last night in New York.

* Is Graham Harrell quarterbacking the basketball team at Texas Tech also? The Red Raiders put up 167 last night against East Central. Final score TT 167 - EC 115.

* Keno looks to have the Friars running and gunning already. Providence beat Sacred Heart last night 111-87. The Friars’ defeated Dartmouth Tuesday night 100-82, marking the first time since the 1990-91 season that Providence has scored 100 or more points in back-to-back games.

* The State Farm logos at the Coaches vs. Cancer tourney in New York are awesome and annoying. The logo is near the baseline on each end and is angled and has perspective so it looks like it is standing up and not stuck to the floor. Check back later for a picture.

* Vanderbilt’s gym is still awful. Can’t we do something about their gym and Boise’s football field?

* ESPN’s game flow chart is a really cool way to see the flow of a game. It charts the scoring throughout the game and gives a neat snapshot of the flow.

It is still football season, but nice to get a taste of hoops.
