First off, I wasn’t even aware there was a New Mexico Bowl until a few minutes ago.
Second, I believe the State of New Mexico got the bowl game as a package deal. (take Steve Alford, get a bowl game).
Third, I believe that bowl officials from the New Mexico Bowl have sent apologies to the University of Iowa for not selecting them to this years big game.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that Nevada, one of the participants, had sold only 95 of its 6,000 allotted tickets at the beginning of the week.
95? Total?
Heck, some Iowa families bring 95 family members to bowl games.
Anyways, be a part of the few, the proud the people that actually see the 2007 New Mexico Bowl, coming to you live Saturday on ESPN.

Time for Round 2 of the Launspach BCS Bracket.
The First Round produced one decent match up and a couple of blow outs.
Game 1
A nail biter. Juice Williams had a big game and led the Illini game winning drive with only a few minutes left on the clock.
Final - Illinois 58% to ASU 42%
Game 2
The Missouri offense was just too much for the Volunteers.
Final - Missouri 67% to Tennessee 33%
Game 3
Todd Reising completed 30 of 42 passes for 287 yards as the Jayhawks rebounded from their Big 12 North Division championship loss to Missouri.
Final - Kansas 83% to Clemson 17%
Game 4
Tim Tebow brought the Heisman trophy to the sideline, but didn’t need the inspiration. Florida rolled.
Final - Florida 87% to Boston College 13%
Ready for Round 2
The Second Round poses some interesting match ups including Illinois vs West Virginia, Virginia Tech vs Missouri and Hawaii Florida.
Voting is open until Thursday night, so make sure to get your picks in and tell your friends.

It is very easy to complain about the BCS. I mean, the NCAA couldn’t put up a bigger bullseye to hit.
So, rather than rehash what is wrong with the BCS, our good friend Andy Launspach took matters into his own hands and setup a playoff system for D-1 college football and we’ll play the games out here.
Stop by each week and help pick the 2007 Launspach BCS Champion.
First the methodology
- There are 12 automatic spots and 4 wild card spots.
- The 11 conference champions are automatically in the field.
- The last remaining automatic spot goes to the highest ranked team that wasn’t a conference champion.
- Instead of giving away the final 4 spots, I propose there is a Wild Card weekend where 8 teams play for the final 4 spots.
- Those 8 teams would be picked from the remaining top teams in the final regular season AP Poll.
We’ll get into the seeding process later.
