Joel Hanrahan won yesterday…read on
Hanrahan got his first win yesterday as the Nats beat the Astro’s 11-10 in 11 innings.
Of course, Hanrahan had the day off and didn’t play. Also, he no longer plays for the Nationals.
This is where you love baseball. You see the Nats-Astro’s game was a makeup from May 5th. Hanrahan pitched the top of the 11th on May 5th. They finished the game yesterday, in Houston, but as you know, Hanrahan was traded to the Pirates last week.
Pirates right-hander Joel Hanrahan was hanging out with teammate Adam LaRoche on Thursday afternoon in Philadelphia when he joked, “Well, it’s time to get to work.”
LaRoche didn’t know what Hanrahan was talking about until the latter told LaRoche that he was the pitcher of record on May 5, when the game between the Nationals and Astros at Nationals Park was halted because of rain in the bottom of the 11th inning with the score tied at 10. Hanrahan was playing for Washington at the time.
Before the game, Hanrahan received several text messages from his former Nationals teammates telling him, “Good luck today.”
Hanrahan improved to 1-3 this season, with 5 saves.
