Hope everyone had a great holiday

Marty is making his way back to Des Moines from Maine and will be live from Toyota today 4-6pm.

Here is what you missed over the weekend:

• Cubs took 3 of 4 from the Brewers to help muddle the muddy NL Central. Turns out Ryan Braun isn’t a fan of the Brew Crew’s starting lineup.

“Their starting pitching is a lot better than ours,” Braun said. “They threw the ball a lot better than our starters did, and they swung the bats better than we did as well. Clearly, they were the better team. It’s nice to get one win, but they clearly outperformed us in this series.”

“We’re at the point right now where it would be important for us to go out there and acquire somebody,” Braun said. “I think [Brewers officials] would be more inclined to do that if we’re winning.” [brewers.com]

• Cubs ready to run away? The Cubs are getting healthy, Ramirez, Guzman and Johnson back today. They took 3 of 4 from Milwaukee. The sale of the team is finally going through. the All-Star break coming up and almost everyone has time to rest. Is Albert Pujols the only thing stopping them from the Division?

• Shocking weekend news – Steve McNair found shot to death. McNair as a football player was pretty amazing. He defined tough. Played hurt. Was a leader. Off the field it appears McNair wasn’t the same standout man. [More McNair news]

• Not shocking news – Tiger and Federer win. The debate begins which is the most dominate in their sport – Tiger or Federer? Cast your vote in the sidebar poll.

Also, Tiger thinks Yankee tickets are over-priced:

“We don’t want to have what happened at Yankee Stadium,” Woods said Friday at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., site of the AT&T National. “Tickets are so overpriced that you can’t bring the family. We want to have everyone come out and enjoy being in a family atmosphere, walk around, have a good time and not have it cost an arm and a leg.”

• Hawk down? A ton of reports flying that Jewel Hampton torn his ACL last Friday. General feel is dread from most, but remember last year – no one saw Shonn Greene coming out and Jewel showed nice flashes in spot positions. Also, remember a few years back a great OL turned Sam Brownlee into a serviceable back.

• Is the hot dog eating contest finally played out. This has to be the stupidest July 4th tradition around. Some dude eats 68 hot dogs and it is celebrated? Dear, ESPN – give me my sports back.
