Pete has obviously been to the Midwest several times and read the games notes from this week. Pete is able to get two of the three main Iowa-isms, but fails to hit the trifecta. Pete mentions “Field of Dreams” and corn fed, but does fail to mention farms or barns.

So why will this game not have the feel good ending of the famous phrase’s movie: “Field of Dreams”?

You only need to look in the corn fields of Iowa. No, not for the ghost of Joe Jackson and other dead baseball players. It’s in the corn-fed beef.

Iowa State vs. Kent State

Kent State football coach Doug Martin and Gene Chizik both have the same game plan for Saturday – mix in two quarterbacks.

The way Kent State football coach Doug Martin sees it, if using multiple players at other positions works, using two quarterbacks in a game should work too.

“You know, you do it at every other position on the field,” Martin said. “Two running backs always play (and) two tight ends play, and it rewards guys that are working really hard.”

The Flashes introduced their two-quarterback system in the season opener against Boston College, with senior Julian Edelman starting and junior Anthony Magazu coming in for the third series of each half.
