Local Pucks/Bucs and Buck$$$$
62andeven.com has learned that the Des Moines Buccaneers are set to name former Iowa Stars head coach Davey Allison as the USHL team’s next head coach.
The official announcement could come as early as this week.
Meantime, the same sources say the financially-plagued Iowa Chops (nee Stars) are exploring a move to the Central Hockey League starting with the upcoming 2009-01 season.
The Chops lost their AHL affiliation with the Anaheim Ducks for non-payment of affiliate fees believed to be somewhere between 700 thousand and 1 million dollars.

Allison: Brilliant move! Great personality and he’ll be the pied-piper for local hockey!!!
Chops to Central: It’s worth a shot and less expensive to run.
