Coming to a minor league ballpark near you
We all know minor league baseball is all about promotions. By far my favorite is from the Sioux Falls Canaries. Every game they would designate someone from the opposing team as the “beer” batter. If that person struck out beer was 1/2 price for the rest of the inning. I have never seen so many people boo trying to get someone to strike out.
Well the marketing geniuses for the West Michigan Whitecaps have come with their new concession items for 2009. They include the burger pictured above – the 4489 calorie “Fifth Third Burger”.
It will cost you $15, but I have to think it is worth it, minus the trip to the cardiologist.The “Fifth Third Burger” is five-thirds of a pound of grilled hamburger, nacho cheese, chili, salsa, crunched tortilla chips, tomato and lettuce served on a special eight-inch sesame seed bun. The estimate it could feed a family of four.
The Whitecaps are the Class A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. For those looking to get their hands on the “Fifth Third Burger”, the Whitecaps open the season April 9th against South Bend.
