Drake recruit finishes 2nd

Incoming Drake basketball recruit Ben Simons, a 6-7 forward from Cadillac, Mich., finished as runner-up for the 29th annual Hal Schram Mr. Basketball award, given by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan, in conjunction with the Detroit Free Press, it was announced on Monday (March 23).
Simons finished with 1,638 points in voting, 88 points behind Derrick Nix (1,726 points) of Detroit Pershing High School. Simons averaged 29.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game this past season.
