The Mouth/Pollard hits the Road

Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard hits the road today and his agenda is simple:

Find a football coach and a Mr. Fix-it all rolled into one.

He CANNOT miss on this hire. If he does he will be standing at press conference like Monday’s and saying goodbye. Pollard is smart enough to know this.

And the program is broken-not completely-but the fractures are compound in nature.

Chizik’s defection sucked the spirit and life out ISU; any notion to the contrary is delusional.

But the cloud will lift and its a controllable phenomenon.

A source told me just before 8:00 am today (Tuesday) that a new coach could be landed by Friday; that is the goal. It was suggested we all not read into where Pollard is flying in and out of; he’ll be conducting interviews that will not have any geographical connection.

Turner Gill is very high on the list, but wants a quick interview and got rattled by how the Syracuse and Auburn situations played out. Charles Barkley’s bombastic statements rattled Auburn for sure, but they also shone an unseemly and unfair racial light on Gill’s personal life. (He’s married to a white woman).

We’re hoping for Bob Dicesare from the Buffalo News today. Stay tuned.

I would bet money that you two are the last to find out who the new coach is. You talk a big game but even on yesterdays show you were all over the map.

Can you give me an example where you broke the story before?

Were you the ones that broke the story on Chizik?

Were you the ones that broke the story on MacD?

Do you really think that Pollard is going to give anyone information that could be leaked to you guys?

Where do you guys sit right now? Is it going to be Gill? We’re you also the ones that said it would be that no one is even mentioning? How can it be both?

I hope you’re the first to find out but if history tells us anything it’s to ignore everything you say about coaching searches.

We HAVE THE source on this search, that I can tell you.
I’d say KxNO has a big chance to break this story…we are working it. Kenny Miller has very good ties to ISU insiders and
these people are not blowhards…time will tell Mikey!
I’m not sleeping too well right now, the phones are ringing and we’re connected to a very credible source. Pollard is moving very quickly and confidently on this right now! Stay tuned!

I hope that if Turner Gill is hired it is based on his coaching ability and not his color. I can see JP giving him the job just to make a splash for himself again, which we all saw how it worked out the last time, and not for what is best for ISU. Turner Gill is a great coach and deserves to be hired on merit (which Auburn ignored) and not color.

We’re on this story and i think we have the source to get this one right ….we’ll see. Pollard is playing this, like he said he would, close to his vest!
TGill wants utter sincereity from all suitors; the Auburn Saga hurt him; he was used! Auburn is a very disgenuious place.
